TNS Media Intelligence released its report of advertising spending for the first 9 months of 2008. Overall expenditures are down 1.7%, and indicators show further decline is on the way. The Tribune Company, owner of the Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times newspapers among others, filed for bankruptcy protection today. Not all too surprising, this is the first newspaper conglomerate to suffer the effects of the Internet on advertising revenues for print media.
